    Beavers Bend State Park

    Beaver’s Bend State Park

Labor Day may mean that summer is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean camping season is. There is still plenty of time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors and explore the outdoors surrounding you.  And right in your backyard are a slue of state parks that offer great outdoor activities for the whole family.

Beavers Bend and Hochatown State Parks are located along the lower mountainous region of southeast Oklahoma and runs along Broken Bow Lake and Mountain Fork River.  Forests full of pine offer some of the most beautiful scenery in Oklahoma, drawing nature enthusiasts from all over.

Visitors to Beavers Bend State Park can enjoy a plethora of activities for children and adults of all ages.  Guests of the park can go fishing, swimming, golfing, hiking, biking, and rent boats for numerous water sport activities.  They also have areas throughout the park with single engine train rides, riding stables, and a mini golf course.

One of the more popular activities has been the Beavers Bend River Floats.  Interested parties can rent canoes or kayaks and paddle down the 2.5 mile float that takes a couple of hours to complete.  You’ll float down the calm waters of Fork River and enjoy the beautiful scenery and breathtaking views of Oklahoma’s Kiamichi Mountains.  All rentals are on a first come first serve basis so be sure to get there early. Visitors can also rent boats from any one of the parks rental stations.  Pontoon boats, houseboats as well as speed boats and fishing boats are available to guests too for a day of fun seeking water activities.

There are numerous campgrounds around the park that line the lakes and rivers edge.  Primitive, tent and RV camping are offered at most campgrounds.  The RV campgrounds vary as far as amenities offered so you’ll have to do your research to find out which ones will suit your RV camping needs.
