Ford announces new Truck Camper Design

Ford motor company and Thor manufacturing’s  Livin’ Lite RV are teaming up to introduce a new version of the F150; the Ford Truck Camper. The current model F150 has been redesigned to make this newer aluminum model suitable to house a companion aluminum truck camper due out in late March.

Livin’ Lite RV, a manufacturer of Thor Industries, was chosen by Ford motor company to plan, design and manufacture their new truck camper because they are known for their lightweight designs that weight in 30% lighter than the competition.  The Ford F150 was made 700 lbs lighter to accommodate the new aluminum truck camper.  Their lighter weight models allow for reduced production costs meaning lower prices for you, the consumer.

Currently the design is in the prototype phase but Livin’ Lite RV hopes to have it on the market by the end of March.  They plan to sell solely through a network of RV dealers and some Ford dealers that are also RV dealers.  Ford and Livin Lite plan to expand the line to include not only truck campers but eventually travel trailers and toy haulers by the end of June, and fifth wheels by the end of their third quarter and the Elkhart Open House.

Ford is known for leading the industry in top of the line truck designs.  The company hopes this new partnership and design will be a big hit in the automobile industry as well as the RV industry.
